Review: Festive Red Lipsticks

Does it get any more festive than a red lip? I don’t think so! I love wearing one all year round but they just feel extra special at Christmas. Today I’m sharing my favourite red lipsticks, some are matte shades, I find a matte red is just so much more wearable, yet can help create such a bold look which is perfect for parties and special occasions. Matte shades are also a bit more long lasting, and with something as bold as a red lip, you want these to last well and with limited smudging. These 5 shades are the ones that I always reach for when I want to create a bright look that compliments a more neutral eye and that can be worn either day or night! 💄

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Succulent
Every time I hear the word “succulent”, I think of something green (um, plants okay). This, however, is on the other end of the colour spectrum! ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips in Succulent is an electric neon orange red, and it’s very very striking when worn.

*NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl*
I’d call this ‘The Beginner’s Bold Shade’ because it’s a mix of pink and red which means that it’s very user friendly and doesn’t feel too scary when you apply it. It’s a great colour actually and is one that I don’t wear enough, but when I do it feels good. Thanks for the reminder.

*Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in 107*
I am absolutely smitten by this lipstick. It’s everything I was looking for in a autumn / winter red, and more. The shade is to die for, the formula is unbelievably good and the lipstick is as cheap as chips. 107 is such a great alternative to your classic red lip so if you fancy spicing up your look a bit I think it would be a great choice!

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Red Carpet Red
An intense, medium-dark red with strong, cool blue undertones and a matte finish. I really love the colour and the final finish. It’s matte but still has a slight sheen to it and the red is just a pure, classic red.

Tom Ford Lipstick in Cherry Lush
Cherry Lush is a bright pinkish red with the signature Tom Ford light vanilla scent. Cherry Lush is lighter and glossier, it is not so pigmented that you can’t use it straight from the bullet, but it glides on easily while delivering a good dose pigment, so you’ll get fully opaque coverage with a juicy sheen!
