My First Betty Box: April Unboxing

It might be a bit late seeing as we’re in May now, but I’ve been crazy busy! I have collaborated with Pink Parcel and Betty Box! They have kindly *gifted* me their April subscription box to review for you, so let me get straight into it for you!

Betty Box was created for young females and to make sure there was a knowledgable hub available filled with lols, love and loads of period information that you could easily get your hands on (because they think it’s really important that you learn about all the changes that happen to your body during puberty!) Betty Box’s range of period must-haves and lifestyle tips mean your period will be less scary and giving you more time to focus on the important stuff!

April isn’t exactly our favourite month of the whole year. It’s almost always raining and is basically revision central with exams coming up the following month. Bleugh. But don’t you worry, because April’s Betty Box was here to add some colour and excitement to your life – just like a rainbow in the rain. Betty Box wanted to make exam season as fun as possible (and obvs bring you the best study break treats, too). So go on, have a little look at what’s inside…

When will it arrive?

The simple answer to this is.. when you want it to!
That’s correct! It runs in sync with your monthly cycle, you order it for the date you expect your period to arrive and Betty Box will be that fairy godmother, there to help! The box is also the perfect size to fit through most letterboxes and is discretely packaged meaning no embarrassing moments!

What’s inside?

Titled ‘April Showers’, this months Betty Box is all about those dreaded exams and how not to dread them! I love the fact Betty is addressing the subject, something that many teenagers are currently experiencing the width and breadth of the country. Exams are extremely important, however so is self care – cue Betty Box, our fairy godmother!

Sanitary Products

Based on an average cycle of 5 days, this box provided ample supplies of both daytime pads along with night-time pads and liners. When placing your order you can choose between pads, tampons or a mixture; even changing each month the sizes or brands. In total Betty Box supplied 14 daytime pads, 5 night-time pads and 6 liners along with a snazzy cotton bag to keep them inside during the day. The drawstring ensures they stay inside and doesn’t give any clues as to what’s inside!

The Vintage Cosmetics Company Rose Gold Blemish Wand – RRP £7.50

As young adults battle with raging hormones, our skin can suffer too. This blemish wand encourages hygienic practices when trying to remove blackheads and whiteheads, ensuring no germs are introduced to blemish areas by dirty fingernails. We all know that squeezing with our fingers is very bad, often breaking the skin and making area look actually worse. You can get rid of pesky blackheads and whiteheads instantly by pressing the loop around the spot to release a mini explosion. The wand won’t leave a scar and is much cleaner than using your fingers!

Hairon Pink Zero Crease Hair Tie – RRP £3.99 (Pack of 3)

Products like these are fast becoming the ‘go to’ as a pain free alternative to old fashioned hair bobbles! You know the kind, metal clasps that yanked half of your hair out when you tried to remove them! These pink spiral mini marvels are a godsend for those with hair needing to be tied back. Stretchy, no nasty metal clasps to catch on your hair….what’s not to love? The fact that they leave your hair kink free amazes me, purely due to the spiral design. It’s true though, no kinks in my hair! More to the point, no hair loss either! No pulling, no tugging, no hair getting stuck in the annoying metal bit… The spiral design of Hairon makes them ideal for popping your tresses up in the middle of revision mania!

Amie Skincare Morning Clear Purifying Facial Wash 10ml (Approximately £0.33p) – RRP £4.95 (For 150ml)

This facial wash is the perfect accompaniment to the blemish wand! The scent reminds me of a baby body wash and foams up well when massaged into wet skin. Looking after your skin during stressful periods is a must – one day of poor skincare hygiene and that beautiful skin can be left looking and feeling yucky! Being a typical young adult, I love wearing and experimenting with make up. That’s the fun part, the washing it off however is sometimes the ‘boring’ or mundane part, but this product allows you to cleanse, tone, moisturise all at the same time, leaving me with clear, healthy and beautiful skin! Made with 96.8% natural ingredients, this face wash will flush the dirt, oil and sweat right out of your pores, leaving your skin soft and refreshed!

Trifle Cosmetics Lip Parfait in Raccoon – RRP £15.00 ($18.95)

I initially thought this product was a lip balm of some description. Alas! It’s actually a 2 in 1 product! Lip treatment and lipstick in one, this particular shade is a very bright colour, very much a statement shade! The addition of cocoa butter in the product formula ensures lips are well cared for whilst looking gorgeous. The lipstick is very creamy and applies well, lasting a fair while before requiring a quick touch up. The lip parfait is infused with shea butter to make your lips super-soft! Wear the spring shade on it’s own or sweep it under a lip balm for a shimmering finish that’s a little more subtle!

STABILO pointMax Premium Fineliners x2 – RRP ££1 per pen

A perfect nod to all that hard work, writing essays and revision notes. I can easily work my way through a handful of pens in no time, usually resulting in the odd pen going walkies! The blue and pink fineliners brighten up what could be a mundane task! Colour your way to success this exam season using Europe’s #1 finerliners. The Rose and Azure will brighten up your notes and help with memorising those all-important facts!

Ape Snacks Crispy & Crunchy Coconut Snacks – Chocolate Bites

A healthier alternative to a chocolate bar or a bag of crisps when feeling peckish. When studying, even just out shopping, we sometimes forget just how unhealthy fast or convenience foods can be for our bodies. This delicious snack ensures convenience whilst promoting healthy eating! A healthier alternative to crisps, made with creamy coconut and a dusting of scrumptious chocolate, this is the perfect snack to scoff in between revision!

Cuppanut Coconut & Cranberry Infusion Tea Bag – Approximately 30p (RRP £4.50 for 15)

The first scent to hit your nose when opening is coconut! If regular tea isn’t your thing, this deliciously fruity infusion could be right up your street! Brew like a normal tea, but just skip the milk and sugar, so easy and so tasty!

Is it worth it?

When totalled up, the box value is approximately £29.12, not including cost of the sanitary products. If you were to factor that into the box value then Betty Box have easily doubled the subscription cost in product value! This is something I always praise in a box! A fantastic ‘April Showers’ box, aimed at making a stressful ‘period’ of life a little calmer.

The main difference is the goodies that are found in the For You box.

For Betty Box customers, these are products aimed at girls aged 11-16, so the For You bit of the box might include jewellery, skincare, stationery and sweets. Pink Parcel is aimed at an older audience so the treats include tea, makeup and lifestyle products.

Pink Parcel is also a monthly subscription service delivering your monthly period essentials directly to your door, it unites periods and pampering!
