HELLO MY LOVELIES!
It’s Christmas Eve-Eve which can only mean one thing – Christmas is right around the corner!
Sometimes this time of year can be difficult for a lot of people. Stress can run rampant and we find ourselves getting wrapped up in buying gifts, saving money, or other circumstances that we forget about the magic that Christmas brings. Whether you’re all in this Christmas season, or not feeling it at all, I’m here to share some of my favourite things to do to get me in the Christmas spirit!
Christmas Scents
I love holiday scents. Freshly-baked cookies, peppermint, vanilla, gingerbread, and all the other scents really help me feel all warm and cozy!
Listen to Christmas Music
One of the best ways that gets me in the Christmas spirit is obviously the music (because that’s all every radio station has on throughout December). But it really is relaxing! *cue the Justin Bieber Christmas album*
My most played Christmas songs this year are:
All I Want For Christmas is You – Mariah Carey
Last Christmas – Wham!
Christmas Tree Farm – Taylor Swift
One More Sleep – Leona Lewis
Mistletoe – Justin Bieber
Watch Your Favourite Christmas Movies
I have so many that my family and I watch all the time, even after Christmas. Our favourites are Home Alone 1-4, The Santa Clause 1-3, and Elf. Curling up with a hot chocolate and a warm blanket and watching a movie helps to keep my spirits up!
Gifting
I enjoy giving gifts more than I do receiving them (I think!). That doesn’t mean I’m ungrateful or don’t want any gifts, send them this way! It’s great though, when you see something that really suits a person, or that you think they’ll really appreciate. They say being kinder makes you happier. I agree with whoever ‘they’ are!
Visit Christmas Markets
A quick stroll around the Christmas markets will get you in the Christmas spirit in no time! Indulge yourself with some winter delicacies, have a glass of mulled wine and explore the artisanal stands for some local and ethically made products that could be a great gift for your friends and family! Brad and I went to the Frankfurt Christmas Market Birmingham a few weeks ago and we really enjoyed ourselves – I would definitely recommend a visit if you’re in need of some Christmas spirit!
Go Ice-Skating
Alone, with friends, or your significant other – the choice is all yours! Just dress warm and head to your local ice rink. Ice-skating will revive those sweet childhood memories and make you appreciate the magic of Christmas!
Head Into the Shopping Centres
While this may not be for everyone, heading out to the shopping centre can be a great way to feel more festive. The beautiful decorations, the gift sets, the Christmas music, and the busied excitement of others can help contribute to your own holiday spirit. Yes, it’s true that Christmas has become a little too commercial, but you don’t necessarily have to buy anything — just feed off the festive atmosphere!
As Christmas approaches, I hope you all find something that helps you stray away from the stress that comes along with the holidays and focus more on what the holiday is all about. Spend as much time with your loved ones as possible and embrace the holiday with open arms!
