HELLO MY LOVELIES!
Merry Christmas Eve everyone! I hope you’re all prepared for the big day, and haven’t left everything to the last minute…
Here’s a little insight into Christmas at the Lodhia’s!
Even when my brothers and I were little, we never woke up early. Honestly, we seem to wake up about 10am, and that’s how it’s been for as long as I can remember. I can’t seem to grasp why people wake up at 5am on Christmas day…
Once we’ve woken up, we love to eat breakfast together, and ever since we were little, our dad wouldn’t let us open our presents until breakfast had been eaten, we had been showered, and every one of us would be awake (there are 9 of us altogether) – this would take us to nearly 2pm – THE AGONY WAS REAL!
The afternoon is pretty much dedicated to cooking the Christmas dinner, watching movies on TV and finally opening our gifts and having a little fiddle around with them! It’s become a family tradition to do Secret Santa: Family Edition every year, so with the 9 of us (there are 4 kids and 4 adults; each kid has a pick of one of the 4 adults in a Santa hat and vice versa!). My grandma opens the family gifts and doesn’t take part in Secret Santa but watches us in glee! Individual gifts are opened first, and then in age order, we open our secret Santa presents! We try to guess who we got and it’s such a lovely tradition!
I like to prepare a lot of the Christmas dinner the day before, so the majority of the vegetables are already prepped and ready to cook. My brothers on the other hand likes to take position on the sofa, and ask every 5 minutes when dinners going to be ready.
We then all venture into the dining room, gobbling down dinner faster than lightning, and have a good ol’ chin wag.
We bloody love board games in my family, ESPECIALLY Monopoly! Now this Christmas tradition can end in tears, and can last up to 4 hours, however I feel like it could go on longer when it comes to my family! A lot of alcohol and food later, there is pretty much no movement! We all start picking at food again, and end up in another giant food coma on the sofa, and that’s where we stay for the rest of the night – however last Christmas we were so into Monopoly that we didn’t leave the table until 2am!
